Have you wanted to party like there's no tomorrow, eat and drink like it's your last day on earth and generally go wild. Then Welcome to the carnival, or as they say, the world's oldest party and this SUSE got shot. I will tell you everything about GWAS fo de carnival, King Momo and a story about Vijay Mallya. Welcome to say, God shots. This is your host Clyde D'Souza. Let's dive right in. The Carnival is celebrated world over in places like Goa real Lisbon, and is typically the last feast before the Catholic Lenten season begins. It's a full day feast before the 40 day fast.

01:20

Carnival comes from the Latin word Karna Laborie, which means farewell to meet. It's a way to indulge oneself in all the earthly pleasures before the 40 days of Lent, leading up to Easter Sunday. In the past, it was also a way for common folk to dress up like royalty and party like Royals. This is why carnival goers wore fancy masks to hide their boring identities and take on a more colorful persona. Every Carnival has a king mobile pimatic parades and colorful dancers dressed in shiny sequined costumes.

02:08

I remember going for the carnival and Benjen which happens along the mandovi River Front. The floats are in various themes from depictions of gun culture like Fanny making, to more trendy ones like climate change. But here's the fun part. For these four days, Goa is ruled by a king. Not just any king, but a king called King. Momo. No, this is not the Chinese momos that you eat. Momo is the mythical king of mischief and merriment. It's a sort of thing got to the royalty, where King Momo rules the city for four days before Lent. And all hell breaks loose. There are no rules and the commoners make Mary.

03:03

The King is generally selected from one of the local residents this year Marga. Local Russell de Souza is GWAS King more of 2023

03:15

it is the job of King mobile, to attend all the major parades and to declare the carnival open with a decree of merriment.

03:25

When I was there, I saw King Momo stand on top of his magnificent Tableau, surrounded by sexy sambar dancers and announced the carnival open with the words car beer unimodal core, which means eat, drink, and be merry. And then people join in with the words Hail King Momo, and oops of Weibo carnival.

03:57

Everyone who joins the parade with fancy masks, and if you are in the mood, try and dress flamboyant and join in the merrymaking the 2023 Carnival is from 18 to 21st Feb, and the major parades happen in band Jim Marga maps and Vasco local Goans those who can also attend a red and black ball at the members only nasionale club in Benjen. And legend has it that once upon a time, Vijay Mallya showed up at the ball, but was turned away because he wasn't dressed in the red and black payments. As the story goes, and since Vijay Mallya knows a good party when he sees one, he returned very great and black. Now if I'm in Mumbai, I generally attended the carnival ball at the Willingdon Catholic gym Karna where there are some bar dancers, parades, and of course are very young King mobile. If you plan to be

and go around this time, the lookout for Carnival themes happening across beaches. And remember to dress fancy, and let your wild side take the lead this year. There's also going to be a helicopter as part of the parade. So as they say, We were carnival
